We are an amateur theatre company based in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario that performs for the sheer joy of entertaining an audience.
Shadowlands John Walsh
Over the past 5 years John has appeared in a variety of roles with Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre, Guelph Little Theatre and TenBareToes. Few of these roles, however, have had any connection with John’s actual life outside community theatre. He has not, for example, very much experience as a depression era dentist as in Canadian Gothic, a medieval Duke as in Henry V, or in plotting to marry off his daughter, the quite terrifying Kate, in Taming of the Shrew. That’s probably why it’s called acting. As ‘Jack’ Lewis, university professor, in Shadowlands, the situation is very different. John really is a university professor and as you might imagine this has proved to be the subject of much good humour from his family, colleagues and friends. More seriously, the opportunity to play one of the most well known and influential academic figures in the twentieth century is an irresistible challenge. I am very grateful to TenBareToes for having the confidence to cast me in this role. It goes without saying that working with my fellow cast members and ‘back of the house’ team is once again a great experience.
