The Taming of The Shrew Nick Oddson

Nick Oddson - Petruchio

Nick Oddson - Petruchio

Nick Oddson has been involved in theatre in one way or another for the last 15 years. His first years were focused on refining his general goofy demeanour while learning the ropes of improvised comedy with the local Theatre on the Edge troupe. In 1998, he expanded his skill set to include theatrical violence as an organizer and performer in the Royal Medieval Faire. Since then, stage combat has become a true love — he has dedicated himself to working with others around the world and at home. He is especially proud of his association with Fight Directors Canada, learning from them and trying to become an expert in the field. Because of this specialization, he has had opportunities to assist with punches, falls or sword fights in over 35 different shows and indie films over the past 10 years. In the summer of 2008, while in charge of the sword choreography for the KWLT production of The Three Musketeers, Nick was asked to step in as Athos. That experience was one of the best he has ever had in theatre, so when Anita Kilgour asked him to both assist with fights and portray Petruchio in Taming of the Shrew, he jumped at the chance to work with her again — he hopes he can live up to her expectations.
